That one was definitely a mentally ill woman. To be fair though, there did existed countless (attempted) murder cases in which the motive was just that absurd. I´m pretty sure I heard about someone who stabbed a stranger just because they bumped on the street.
One student in a military school in my hometown killed his dormmate for a few weeks either because he refused to let him cheat on his homework or the victim copied the culprit´s homework, I forgot which (and it´s just a homework, not test, and the teacher didn´t even noticed), he bought a brand new knife for that purpose too, so not a caught-in-heat-of-the-moment murder.
Another case I remember from around 15 years ago, a woman tried to strangle her neighbour´s son whom she only met a few time and always cordially, because he mistook her baby boy´s gender and called him (I forgot the age, but he wasn´t a newborn and not yet a toddler) "a cute little girl".

I REALLY hope that the unconcious Kogoro never does this again. What if she had a knife? Conan was really stupid for no good reason. No adults who could take over in case things went south, just an unconcious detective and a murderer who held his wrists the entire time instead of pushing him down to the floor like a sane person. And then Conan tried to play along with the sudden waltz like- WHAT?

I guess Conan could've tranquilized her in case she tried to stab Kogoro tho but then there'd certainly be evidence when medical professionals check her for a potential concussion or whatever excuse the kids use for why she became unconcious for seemingly no reason.

He only have one tranquilizer needle, which he already used on Kogoro.
I think, if anything went south, he´ll just knocked her out with his soccer ball. It´s not as if he didn´t already randomly kicking things to suspects anyways. And he´ll definitely blamed Hakase for the soccer ball.

However, it´s more likely that Conan is on par with a professional psychologist in predicting human´s action, considering in most cases, the culprits and witnesses did exactly what he predicted, so he probably already 90% sure she wouldn´t pushed Kogoro away (I´m pretty sure he could give you an hour lecture about emotional state, instinct, atmosphere, etc).

ETA: Although, nobody said Conan´s not arrogant, so that´s too.

Yayoi-san has clearly lost it. Her motive is one the stupidest of all the ones in Detective Conan. Killing your lover because he wanted to sell Japanese sweets along Western confectionery? So her love for shortcakes is greater than her love for the president.

What a shame, pretty but going insane and on a murdering spree for sweets. That being said, WHAT ON EARTH WAS THAT LMFAO. TV producers getting more and more crazy by the day. Started introducing torture, the victim hiding and fighting with the murderer, now we got Kogoro waltzing with the criminal lol.

Is this the first time mental illness has made its way into DC as a reason for the murders? She should be ruled criminally insane with what the hell happened in the end.

I would like to think that it's the same thing in Japan, but in the US, even a criminal has a right to sue a detective, if said detective was being a bit too... grabby AKA Conan through Kogoro saying something along the lines of "a murderer has no right to call me out" wouldn't hold up in front of a judge. Still illegal for an investigator to seemingly molest a suspect.
